The One Health Platform’s White Paper is now published in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. It summarizes highlights of the 5th International One Health Congress in 2018 in Canada. The White Paper can be found here:

Our Congresses are gatherings of approximately 1500 professionals from relevant international organisations, OIE, FAO, WHO, World Bank, leading scientific experts and researchers in the field of One Health, animal production and trade, food safety, animal health, human health and environmentology/ecology, government representatives in public health, human health, food safety, environmental health and global health security.

One of the main outcomes was the need for further discussion and work on “peace time” preparedness elements: syndrome surveillance in humans and animals, pathogen discovery (identification platforms for humans and animals), diagnostic development and distribution platforms, mathematical modelling, animal models, pathogenesis study platforms for new infections, preventive intervention platforms, therapeutic discovery platforms and communication strategies.

Now “peace time” is over and we are in the middle of a pandemic.

We will continue our work and will convene again with the One Health community to continue our discussions and work at our next gathering; the 6th World One Health Congress, 31 Oct-3Nov 2020. We are - of course - welcoming abstracts on SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19.
